This unique combination is not only an ideal choice for the overall health and beauty of your dog, but also a smart choice for the environment!
We invite you to learn a little more about why these features are so important to us and what they mean to you!
What is so special about the water?
TendaGroom does not inject or add any chemicals into the water used in products. Our water is drawn from an underground aquifer about 70 feet below our facility. The water is then passed thru a series of resin beds to reduce naturally occurring cations and anions also removing any particulate matter. Following the resin beds, our water then passed thru an Ultra Violet Light which kills up to 99.5% of the naturally occurring bacteria. Our water is continually monitored for the proper conductivity (normally <0.1 microseimens/cm) and pH (6.5 - 7.0). Our water is also independently tested to ensure it meets the demanding purity standards of USP 27 Pharmaceutical Grade Water.
TendaGroom is DEA Free, why is this so very important?
DEA is diethanolamine, a chemical that is used as a wetting agent in shampoos, lotions, creams and other cosmetics. DEA is commonly used because it provides a rich lather in shampoos and keeps a favorable consistency in lotions and creams. DEA by itself is not harmful but while a product is sitting on the stores shelves or in your cabinet at home, DEA can react with other ingredients in the formula to form an extremely potent carcinogen called nitrosodiethanolamine (NDEA). NDEA is readily absorbed through the skin and has been linked with stomach, esophagus, liver and bladder cancers.
What are Parabens and why does TendaGroom choose not to use them?
Parabens are a class of chemicals widely used as preservatives by cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. Parabens are effective preservatives in many types of formulas. These compounds, and their salts, are used primarily for their bactericidal and fungicidal properties. They can be found in shampoos, commercial moisturizers, shaving gels, personal lubricants, topical/ parenteral pharmaceuticals, spray tanning solution, makeup, and toothpaste. They are also used as food additives. Their efficacy as preservatives, in combination with their low cost, the long history of their use, and the inefficacy of some natural alternatives like grapefruit seed extract (GSE), probably explains why parabens are so commonplace. They are becoming increasingly controversial, however, because they have been found in breast cancer tumors (an average of 20 nanograms/g of tissue). Parabens have also displayed the ability to slightly mimic estrogen (a hormone known to play a role in the development of breast cancer). No effective direct links between parabens and cancer have been established, however. Another concern is that the estrogen-mimic aspect of parabens may be a factor in the increasing prevalence of early puberty in girls.
